Chris Crawford began his media career after graduating from The Ohio State University in 1984 with a degree in Marketing. After working during college at ad agency Howard Swink, he decided he wanted a career in the agency world. An early mentor at the agency suggested starting out in media sales, as this experience would be good preparation for the agency, but once Chris experienced the thrill of the sale, he never looked back.

He started his career at a company that owned a successful community newspaper and two radio stations in his hometown. After six years in media sales, he moved into sales management as NSM and the GSM of two radio stations, and then into general management at the newspaper. After three years, Chris moved to Charlotte, NC to work with two urban stations owned by Broadcasting Partners. He returned home to work with Nationwide Communications properties in Columbus until Nationwide’s sale to Jacor Broadcasting.

Crawford then entered the consulting world by joining Creative Resources where he worked in top markets. During the period of mergers and acquisitions in the mid-90’s, Creative Resources eventually merged into what is now Clear Channel Communications. Chris then  joined the staff of Clear Channel University where he became Director of Coaching.

Wanting to concentrate on his growing family instead of being a Road Warrior, Chris joined Journal Broadcast Group as a General Manager in Wichita, KS. Due to his success there,  Journal  asked him to consult sales teams in all of their markets. Back on the road again, Chris opened up sales consultancy Strategic Sales Solutions working with all 36 Journal radio stations,  in cooperation with The center for Sales Strategy.

Once again, Ohio called to Chris, and he joined Dispatch Media Group in Columbus as GSM of the company’s two statewide radio networks, After two years, Crawford was promoted to Director of Sales of RadiOhio Inc. and was instrumental in creating what was at that time the largest sports and marketing rights partnership with IMG College and The Ohio State University. With the finalization of the IMG/OSU partnership, Crawford headed west to sunny Phoenix where he spent a year as DOS of CBS Radio’s properties.

Before joining Efficio, Chris spent a year developing a sales plan with The Ohio Newspaper Association. Chris now leads Efficio’s sales force as GSM. Chris and his wife Laurie are parents to daughters Madison and Mekala.  Chris would rather be outdoors, as he is a hunter, fisherman, and is up for 18 holes anytime.
